Discover a message from the IIDA Carolinas President highlighting chapter initiatives, member engagement, and the future of interior design. A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT . Dear IIDA Carolinas Chapter Members and Friends, It is truly an honor to serve as your President of the IIDA Carolinas Chapter this year. As I step into this roll, I am filled with gratitude for the leadership who has come before and all the remarkable accomplishments our chapter has had, along with excitement for what lies ahead for the future of design. This year, our Chapter will focus on meaningful opportunities for professional development, continue to foster collaboration across disciplines, and advance advocacy efforts that elevate the value and influence of Interior Design throughout the Carolinas. Our vision is rooted in progress and the impact we have that creates a stronger design community together. When I think about what makes our chapter so special, I think about the relationships built, ideas shared, and the way we support one another in the profession of Interior Design. When we come together across disciplines and experiences, we create something far greater than any one of us could accomplish alone. I believe in the power of design and our Chapter bringing people together to approach new voices and ideas with curiosity. I look forward to the year ahead, learning, evolving, and connecting with you all. Thank you for being part of this design community and exciting journey ahead! BEST IN SHOW, HEALTHCARE OUTPATIENT (WINNER) BEST IN SHOW, HEALTHCARE OUTPATIENT (WINNER) ALFRED WILLIAMS & CO. | HQ & STUDIO RENOVATION GENSLER | CHARLOTTE, NC CORPORATE - SMALL (WINNER) In 2013, Alfred Williams & Company (AWC) established its Raleigh showroom as a neutral canvas for showcasing Herman Miller’s iconic furniture. A decade later, with the integration of MillerKnoll and a renewed vision for the future, AWC embarked on a transformative redesign—reimagining its headquarters and studio as a destination that inspires, connects, and celebrates both clients and employees. AWC’s goal was to evolve from a traditional showroom into a hospitality-driven studio experience. The new space needed to do more than display products; it had to tell a story, guide visitors through a curated journey, and reflect the brand’s commitment to innovation, flexibility, and community. The design team was challenged to create a dynamic environment within a compact 7,500 sq ft footprint and a historic building, requiring thoughtful spatial planning and multifunctional solutions. Partnering with their design team, AWC crafted a studio that merges form and function—where every architectural detail, furniture piece, artwork, and accessory contributes to a cohesive and inspiring experience. The result is a vibrant, flexible space that supports collaboration, showcases AWC’s extensive product line, and reenergizes its team. Founded in 1867, AWC is one of Raleigh’s longest-standing businesses, deeply rooted in the local community. This redesign honors that legacy while embracing the future of workplace design. It’s a space that not only reflects AWC’s brand values but also redefines how clients and community partners engage with its offerings—transforming the studio into a living example of the environments AWC helps others create.

BEST IN SHOW, HEALTHCARE OUTPATIENT (WINNER) BEST IN SHOW, HEALTHCARE OUTPATIENT (WINNER) BANDWITH GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS GENSLER | RALEIGH, NC CORPORATE - LARGE (WINNER) Bandwidth’s new 22-acre headquarters campus in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the culmination of a decade-long partnership between the company and the design team. The project includes a 5-story office building, a Montessori-based preschool, a mass timber event center, fitness center and a wide range of outdoor amenities—all designed to reflect Bandwidth’s people-first culture and commitment to wellbeing. A technology company founded and based in Raleigh, Bandwidth envisioned a campus that would embody its mission. It needed to unify previously scattered teams under one roof, support neurodiverse work modes and help their teams not only do their best work, but also integrate nature, hospitality, and family into their workdays. From the sound of children’s laughter to the sight of families enjoying lunch together, to coworkers enjoying a friendly game of basketball after work, the campus needed to be a living reflection of Bandwidth’s belief that the workplace should empower people to thrive and support their commitment to the whole person promise.
