Description

Michael Graves is looking for a creative, talented, and team-oriented Interior Designer II to join our dynamic internationally acclaimed team. Ideal candidate is passionate about design, thrives in a collaborative studio environment, and is able to communicate design ideas and approaches clearly and thoughtfully.   This is an in-person position based in our Winston-Salem, North Carolina office.  Remote and hybrid work is not available for this role.

Qualifications:

  •        A professional degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
  •        Six or more years of professional industry experience.
  •        NC Registered Interior Designer or ability to become registered in NC within one year of hire.
  •        Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
    Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  •        Experience with Enscape and other rendering software experience a plus.
  •        LEED or WELL Accreditation is preferred.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  •        Lead commercial design projects with significant client and user interface.
  •        Collaborate with the broader design team to generate architectural concepts for interiors projects
  •        Take full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating interior design assignments
  •        Research and develop concepts for FF&E, materials, finishes, colors, and other visual design elements
  •        Liaise with project managers, architects, and consultants to ensure cohesive project delivery
  •        Plan and design interior aspects of large or multiple projects, developing appropriate concepts and approaches
  •        Provide subject matter expertise on specialized components of interior design
  •        Participate in code compliance activities

Additional Skills Required:

  •        Exceptional organization and time management abilities
  •        Strong design, graphic, and presentation skills
  •        Thorough knowledge of relevant codes, operations, and industry trends
  •        Proven ability to mentor and manage teams
  •        Professional client interaction skills with the ability to foster and nurture relationships

A Day in the Life:

  • Work side by side in a team environment with our Design Leaders, Project Managers, Architects, Interior Designers, Urban Planners and Emerging Professionals on active production projects
  • Contribute to other design and marketing efforts undertaken by the firm
  • Create visual presentations and communications for client interactions
  • Discover your areas of interest and work with talented mentors
  • Develop design assignments throughout all project phases
  • Coordinate architectural drawings across disciplines
  • Support communication between project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Play an integral part in overall client satisfaction, design quality and profitability of all projects undertaken that contribute to the firm’s strategic priorities

Your Strengths as an Interior Designer II:

  • Technical production skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively produce design and construction documents
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Experience with graphics software such as Sketchup, Lumion, or Enscape
  • Understanding of relevant codes such as state building codes, FGI Healthcare Guidelines, NFPA, IBC, ANSI 117.1, BOMA
  • LEED accreditation or interest in achieving accreditation is preferred
  • Understanding of the design and procurement processes
  • Ability to direct and motivate work efforts of others and handle project challenges

What You Bring To The Table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited university or equivalent field of study
  • 4+ years of design experience in an architecture firm is preferred
  • NCIDQ certification is preferred

A cover letter, resume and portfolio demonstrating Revit skills and rendering abilities are required.
