Our team was excited to work closely with the design firm and general contractor to provide a successful flooring solution for the 2 Hannover Lobby Renovation project, located in Raleigh, NC. Situated within a prominent office building downtown, this is a 2-story lobby space, totaling just over 8,000 SF.

The existing lobby flooring was structurally sound, but aesthetically outdated and lacked the visual interest and sophistication that newer, competing buildings offer. Through working closely with the design firm to assist in their specification, a thin gage panel tile was selected to minimize transition issues and allow installation directly over the existing flamed granite flooring. This highly traveled building lobby presented a few challenges when considering the installation logistics. Hundreds of people passing through the lobby daily, necessary downtime, noise and minimizing tenant disturbances were all high priorities as we coordinated this project installation.

The project was completed in multiple phases, over an 8-week period, to accommodate owner and tenant needs. This was a highly technical installation with gauged panel sizes as large as 60″ x 30″, requiring 100% mortar coverage. Our installation crews utilized all the latest installation techniques, tools and materials to achieve an installation that can be considered one with the existing flooring substrate. Ultimately, we were pleased to surpass expectations of the GC, design team, and building owner to provide a flooring installation that was not only successful by technical standards, but significantly contributed to the improvement of how building users experience this newly renovated interior.
