Beauty on a Budget – Winner

Big Brother Big Sister Project

Winston Salem, NC

Lambert Design Group

Relocating from an older repurposed house into their first office space in downtown Winston Salem, Big Brother Big Sister was looking for a fresh new look to support their mission, “Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.”

This mission is where the concept for their new space was born. Working closing with staff the design goal was to create a space that energized youth, giving them a safe space that was designed for them. Expanding on their new branding guidelines color and patterning was brought into the space through floor patterning and wall color.

Upon entering the space, guests can view the organizations new logo and begin to catch a glimpse of the pairing room. 3Form HooDoo’s were used as the pairing rooms creating a fun and unique space for youth to meet their potential Big. The flexible board room doubles as a training room and break out space, to accommodate a variety of uses. Glass fronts reflect the transparency and open door policy the organization promotes. The design developed individual program spaces for varying age groups, providing older youth a separate space from the younger groups. The main program space was designed full of color and a variety of seating arrangements to help promote mentoring relationships between Big’s and their Little. The result is a bright and energized office that expressed Big Brother Big Sister’s identity and their goal of having a space that was designed for the youth of the city.
