Retail projects of this caliber provide a special opportunity for unique flooring installations. For this retailer, we created a commercial furniture showroom that showcased 8 unique target markets (what we coined, Commercial DNA’s). These DNA’s include Hospitality, Ad Agency, Tech Start Up, Executive Attorney Office, Education, Car Dealership, Engineering Firm, and Healthcare. Every DNA is designed, furnished, and accessorized to embody the needs and aesthetic of its’ ideal end user and winds through this 25,000 sqft showcase through the use of intricate flooring patterns, using 46 flooring products in all!
Complicated, yet creative, and intentional floor patterns were utilized to define space, direct users through way-finding and identify each DNA personality.
Challenges to the project were significant due to the tight timeline. Intricate flooring patterns and cuts required a great deal of assistance from both our valued manufacturer reps as well as our talented installers, not to mention patience and incredible attention to detail. Multiple on-site meetings were necessary to ensure design details of the flooring installation aligned with other trades, such as the paint contractor, due to the flooring design being intrinsically tied to other design elements.
Attention to details like these insured that the end result was an aspirational atmosphere for customers and the trade to shop, inspiring customers to think far beyond just furniture and fabrics when designing their own space.
