Studio TK | Modus Bob, Art, Abe and Arne Collection

Charlotte, NC

Studio TK: Kelly Addesso + Cindy Suarez

Produced in partnership with a furniture brand in South Somerset, UK, and designed by Michael Sodeau, Bob, Art, Abe, and Arne share a highly innovative and environmentally conscious mindset.

The warm and tactile Bob Cork Stool features a curved base with a concave seat. The iconic holes make it easy to move while adding a distinctive design element. Art is the smallest table, featuring an angled cutout that perfectly holds books. The medium-sized Abe has a lower shelf running around its entire perimeter. The largest table, Arne, is designed to function best as a central coffee table, showcasing a concentric cutout on top.

Bob, Art, Abe, and Arne are made entirely from waste materials generated during the production of wine bottle corks and bonded with a solvent-free binder. Cork is naturally water-repellent, easy to clean, and offers sound-insulating properties. The products can either be mechanically recycled into new products or biodegraded at the end of life.

The cork oak forests of the Mediterranean, supplying the recycled cork, are biodiversity hotspots. Cork oaks can be stripped of their cork every 9 years without causing permanent damage to the tree, making cork a truly regenerative material. Supporting cork harvesting helps to preserve its economic viability and unique habitat.
