This Pediatric Infusion Center is located in Durham, NC as a part of the Duke Health System. This design creates an environment that balances the clinical requirements of a pediatric infusion center with the need for a comforting, child-friendly atmosphere. This center provides a safe, efficient, and functional medical space while ensuring it is not intimidating or overly clinical for young patients who may already feel anxious about their treatment. Additionally, this space accommodates frequent visitors, as some children come for weekly treatments, while offering flexibility for different age groups and treatment needs. Ensuring emotional well-being, providing distraction therapy, and meeting accessibility standards for both patients and families are key challenges. This design is also sustainable, durable, and compliant with healthcare regulations.
