DESIGNWORKS 2022

Corporate Large – Honorable Mention

Perkins + Will- Charlotte NC

Our “Design for Better” approach embraces the notion of “Touch and Tech,” sparking connectivity, supporting inclusion, and fostering trust.

As the Truist vision evolved, the design team focused on solutions that would attract a savvier demographic. We explored industries that were current, modern, and energetic. The design embeds a spirit of youth, connectedness, and relevance supporting social interaction, freedom of choice, and a desired sense of comfort.

At 86,500 SF, the ITC is roughly the size of a city block drawing inspiration from urban planning principles that organize a series of neighborhoods, structures, parks, and clarity of circulation. Treehouses, communicating stairways, public forums, and flexible furniture systems bring a sense of scale to this grand space. A simple planning parti creates a series of memorable experiences and sets the stage for the dynamic work and research occurring within the center.

The ITC is instrumental in communicating the Truist story. The nature of this volume provides unobstructed visual connectivity from one story-telling element to another while taking advantage of the views out to the surrounding urban context. Exemplified in the larger-than-life dynamic digital ‘tree’ that resides at the core of the ITC ‘Park’ provides comfortable haven for teammates to gather, associate, or simply chill as they discover the morning sunrise. At the same time, the tree becomes an urban beacon within the Truist Tower.

The ITC promotes a space for health and well-being, inclusion, and connection, becoming a symbol and affirmation of the Truist brand, values, and vision.
